The Students Union at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) recently partnered with Jamie-Compton-Rea from the National Centre for Suicide Prevention and Training. Jamie will be providing students with advice on how to promote a positive mental wellbeing for the new Student's Union Microsoft Teams page.
Anna Leahy Student Engagement Officer at SERC said “Jamie, has worked in Mental Health and Wellbeing for ten years, he’s recorded a special message for SERC students about the role of language in changing our mindset.
“In his video message, Jamie talks about how in the current crisis we find ourselves in, we are often using a lot of negative language and terms, such as ‘isolation’. However, to help protect our mental wellbeing and maintain a positive mindset, we should change this negative language into something more positive. For example, instead of someone being ‘isolated’, they are ‘grounded’.”
