The N.I. Judo Schools Championship is set to be bigger and better in 2019

The N.I. Judo Schools Championship takes place on the 23rd June in the Lisburn LeisurePlex and this year we are delighted to announce that we have the support of SERC as the event sponsor.

The competition welcomes over 200 male and female young Judo players from across Northern Ireland, ranging from 8 to 18 years old and all vying to win the title of champion in their age group and bring a medal back to their school.

The competition is one of the N. I. Judo Federation’s top three events in the year and is a prestigious competition to compete in.

Having the support of SERC this year has meant the NIJF has been able to commission dedicated medals for the event and make 2019 standout from the rest.

It also means that as every competitor will receive a medal, there will be an extra special memento of the day and their efforts.

Mark Donald, commercial manager from the NIJF said

“We were delighted when SERC agreed to support the event as it means we can go the extra mile for all the young Judoka on the day. They are bringing a few fresh initiatives to the event as well which is great!

"It was a good fit for SERC as they are so close to the venue and as we have province wide participation it means they can showcase everything they do to prospective pupils and parents.

"Both Judo and college education are learning journeys and we’re very excited about the event this year."

“SERC has a proud tradition of supporting student athletes in their sporting and academic pursuits and have helped nurture students who have competed in the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic games in Rio and numerous competitions and championships across all sports.      

He added, “Our Elite Athlete Programme has been designed, in partnership with Sport NI and Sports’ National Governing Bodies, to provide aspiring elite athletes  with the support they need to achieve both academic and sporting excellence.   It could be the next step for a young Judo player who wants to take their sport further.”
