Stay Local- We're open and welcoming students on higher education courses

Students who have started higher education programmes far from home are urged to act fast to secure a place at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) if they have changed their mind or are finding the university experience a bit of a let-down due to Covid-19.

Heather McKee, Director of Strategic Planning, Quality and Support said, “Many students have been featured in the media this week having headed off to higher education course all over the country but they are having far from the experience they were expecting. Moving away from home can be daunting and unfortunately, this rite of passage has been severely disrupted due to Covid-19.

She added, “The most important thing is for students to get off to the right start in their higher education courses and if this means changing course or institutes to be closer to home and in a better position to manage any lockdown restrictions then young people should be supported to make the change.

“We encourage any young person who finds themselves in this position to consider coming to SERC to get their higher education off to a good start with a HND, HNC or Higher Level Apprenticeship.   We are set up for learning in class, on campus and online.”
