Business and Retail students at SERC have been busy developing a new pop-up shop which will sell the goods and services of SERC student enterprises.  The first shop will launch on Wednesday 23 March in Bangor Campus 11am – 2pm outside the student canteen.

Catherine Anderson, Deputy Head of School Hospitality, Tourism and Management said, “As well as completing their courses, students at SERC are actively encouraged and equipped with the knowledge and skills to develop their own student enterprise – some of which blossom into self-employed business opportunities for the students.   Our Student Shop Made by the Students concept is a further development of student enterprises, where goods and services sold through our seasonal fairs and catalogues, will now be available in Student Shops which we plan to roll out across all our main campuses."

Catherine added, “Establishing the Student Shops means our Level 1 and Level 2 Retail students gain the underpinning knowledge and practical skills required to progress to employment in a retail environment.  It will also allow our Level 3 Business students to be at the helm in developing a new business along with the responsibility and accountability for finance and marketing. The Student Shop embraces a whole college approach, selling products and services from students across all curriculum areas including the Training Organisation.”

Come along for your chance to purchase a unique, hand-crafted gift or be inspired to start your own enterprise.

The team are planning to have a further pop-up shop before the end of June and then weekly shops on Campus in the new academic year.  Watch this space!
