As SERC moved to an online platform some students were unable to adequately work from home, due to software or PC related issues, but our IT team have been working tirelessly to resolve that.
They have been delivering college PC’s to the homes of students to allow them easier access to learning materials and online classes. The PC’s have been set up with WiFi dongles, enabling them to be set up anywhere in their household. They have also been set up with software’s relevant to the students need such as Office 365, Adobe products, Solidworks, Unity, Sibelius and more.
Nicola Newell, Head of Desktop Services for SERC’s Information Technology & Services team said “We are committed to ensuring that any student who requires IT equipment gets a pc to enable their continuing education. We are working hard to not only provide the equipment, but to assist with any issue’s students have with accessing their learning resources from home. In addition, we have provided access to specific software that is usually only available in campus but can now be downloaded at home for their use.”
