South Eastern Regional College welcomed Construction lecturers from across Northern Ireland to the College’s Lisburn Campus for a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session on Sketchup Pro in advance of new assessment for Level 3 qualifications.

Stuart Rankin, Deputy Head of School of Construction, delivered the session which was requested by other Colleges through the Construction Hub which is led by SERC. Stuart said, “This was a fantastic opportunity to share knowledge across the Colleges and support each other. The CPD training was tailored to the needs of the lecturing teams and the CAD requirements for the new synoptic assessment part of the Level 3 Construction and the Built Environment qualification. The session introduced participants to the interface and tools of the software and took them through the processes of producing both interior and external views following good practice.”

The Connected project allowed for sharing of knowledge and best practice across the sector.

John Nixon, Head of School of Construction, Engineering Services and Skills for Work stated, “I would like to acknowledge support from the Connected programme for the session which ensures there is standardisation of approach throughout the sector and that the skills of the college teams continually match industry needs and standards.”
