SERC Host Be Your Own Boss Community Breakfast

South Eastern Regional College (SERC) hosted a community breakfast at the College’s Downpatrick Campus to raise awareness of the new intake to Be Your Own Boss, a programme for anyone in the Downpatrick area who has ever dreamt about developing a potential business idea.

Community representatives and potential participants got an insight into the programme and had a taste of the project-based learning they can expect to experience on the free 12-week course which aims to help people unleash their creativity and design their future.

Funded by the Department for Communities, Be Your Own Boss, offers training, support and two qualifications to help participants get up and running. Sessions will run every Wednesday from 20 November, for 12 weeks from 9.30am until 12.30pm, with lunch provided.

Kim Godsman, Programme Development Manager at SERC said, “Be Your Own Boss offers people in the Downpatrick area the opportunity to learn some of the skills and knowledge required to start up and run your own business, whilst developing your ideas and discovering your strengths and talents. It is an exciting partnership between County Down Rural Community Network, Men’s Shed and local entrepreneurs who will support SERC in delivering the course.”
