SERC Lisburn Halloween Market

Staff and students from across SERC showcased their innovative ideas and products at the annual Halloween Markets at SERC Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newtownards campuses.

The event brought together staff and students from various courses, such as engineering, art & design, hospitality & catering, and beauty, to sell many tricks and treats, including artwork, handmade crafts, plants, face painting, Halloween decorations, cakes and bakes, and much more.

Megan Rollins, SERC Senior Innovation Advisor, commented, “We had a great turnout at the Halloween Markets, which gave students and staff the opportunity to showcase their enterprising and entrepreneurial qualities. Having the markets back on campus created such a buzz and was an ideal way to raise awareness of student companies at SERC.

“Students gain real life experience in creating products, working out costings and pricing, marketing their business and dealing with customers face to face. There is also the bonus of bringing entrepreneurs and like-minded people together in one space, which allows for great networking and collaboration opportunities between sellers. The markets are a great way for students to develop key transversal skills which will help them prepare for the world of work or self-employment.”.
