Gary O'Sullivan Level 2 Traineeship in Motor Vehicle

Gary O’Sullivan’s interest in restoration and performance of old Japanese cars has led him to the Level 2 Motor Vehicle Traineeship at SERC.

Gary (17) from Newcastle, said, “I progressed to SERC from Shimna Integrated College following my GCSEs. College is different from school, and although there is a bit more freedom you still have to put the work in.”

“One of the best things about the Traineeship is the hands-on experience of building a kit car, a Westfield, from the frame up - it was a real challenge. I have experience of working on my own car, but this was building a car from scratch.”

“I am interested in performance and restoration and have a particular interest in old Japanese cars such as the Skyline – they are all hand built and very reliable. I hope to progress to the Level 3 Traineeship and my long-term ambition would be to own my own garage.”

“I would recommend coming to SERC for the Motor Vehicle Traineeship.   There is good camaraderie in the class, everyone has similar interests, so it is good to be able to ‘talk cars’.”
