SERC Public Services student, Sophie McFaul will appear on The Top Table on Wednesday 27th November on BBC1 Northern Ireland at 10:45p.m.

The Top Table is a current affairs programme which puts young people at the centre of political debate, which is presented by Stephen Nolan.  Tonight's episode promises to be a heated election debate between representatives of Northern Ireland’s main political parties.

Sophie developed a passion for politics while studying a Government, Policies and Public Services unit as part of her course at SERC.

While debating issues which are found in party manifestos, Sophie created a Mobile Minute clip, a short segment which allows young people to voice their opinion on a topic they feel passionate about, and sent it to the BBC.

Sophie is 17 years old, meaning that she cannot vote in the upcoming election. She recognises that the decisions made in December will influence her generation’s future and that she will have to wait 5 years before she can vote in a Parliamentary Election, a thought which she finds frustrating. She believes the voting age should be lowered to 16.

Show your support and tune in to see Sophie in action tonight as she bravely faces a panel in heated debate in front of a live studio audience.
