Visitors to South Eastern Regional College’s (SERC’s) Lisburn Campus today (Monday 29 April) will be in for a visual treat as Business Studies and Art students have worked together to create a pop-up exhibition in the building’s entrance mall.

The exhibition has been organised by Level 3 Business Studies students Drew Neill (21), from Downpatrick, Rebekah Clarke (19) from Lisburn and Saoirse Jacobs, who is 25 and also from Lisburn. The students chose to work on the exhibition to complete a module on event management and approached the Art department on the campus for contributions.  Artists from a range of courses and levels were keen to get involved, with ten pieces selected for the show. In addition, local illustrator Ali Park has contributed two pieces.

Business Studies tutor Rose-Marie Ritchie says everyone is excited about the resulting exhibition:

“The exercise was to get the students working together on all aspects of a project, in this case one which comprised event management, venue planning, networking, marketing and the risk assessment and disclaimer associated with a public event. The result of the students’ hard work on this is something which can be enjoyed by the public and is also a great showcase for work by their peers studying art courses - a lot of us are looking forward to seeing the practical outcome of learning.”

The pop-up exhibition will be open from 10am-12 noon.
