Parent Learner Support Group Graphic- Thursday at 3pm

Last week during Refreshers, the Students' Union launched the new Parent-Learner Support Group which gives SERC students who are parents the opportunity to talk, lend support and give advice to one another. If you missed the opportunity to join last week, the group are having another meeting Thursday 11 February at 3pm.

One of the organisers of the group, Priscilla Hewitt said, “I am a parent learner myself and home schooling my kids at the same time. I thought that it would be great to have somewhere for other parent learners to talk, share their experiences and support each other, and that’s where the idea of the support group came from.”

She added, “It can be quite challenging being a parent learner with assessments and/or assignments ongoing as well as jugging home schooling, especially in the current situation and this can take a toll on your mental health. So overall, we would like to see the group support all parent learners on every campus throughout lockdown and beyond.

The group will be a safe space and we’re hoping that we can give the support that parent learners need.” The group will have regular meetings, but the support will be there daily if individuals want to have a one-to-one chat.
