The SERC Careers Service team recently hosted Northern Ireland Higher Education Fairs on 8 and 9 October 2024 in SERC Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newtownards Campuses.

The Fairs were aimed at students who have an interest in Higher Education courses and designed to help them get all the advice they need to make informed decisions about their next steps. Attending the fairs were representatives from Queen’s University Belfast, Ulster University, College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE), Open University, Stranmillis University College, St Mary’s University College Belfast, and Liverpool John Moores University.

Students got the opportunity to speak to university representatives and pick up prospectuses, guides, and other freebies.

In addition, students were able to talk to SERC staff about the wide range of Higher National Certificates, Diplomas, Foundation Degrees and Degrees at SERC, as well as Higher Level Apprenticeships. SERC’s support services were also in attendance to talk to students about career options, student finance and the Student Union.

Senior Careers Officer Shirley Moore commented, “At SERC we have many students preparing to progress onto Higher Education courses, both at SERC and beyond, so it’s important for them to have the right information to plan their next steps. These Higher Education Fairs were fantastic for connecting our students with the best people and resources to help them make informed decisions about their future education route. It was great to see all the university representatives and SERC staff in attendance and I’d like to thank them for all their help.”
