The theme this year is “Mental Health is a universal human right”.

Around 1 in 4 of us will experience mental health issues at some point in our lives and the remaining three will know someone experiencing a mental health problem. 

Help and support is available through providers and online resources and within the college: 

  • The Mental Health First Aiders will assist and support staff members until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves. For more information, click here.  
  • In Downpatrick and Lisburn campuses, you can avail of the Quiet Rooms should you need time alone and some space to yourself. Keys can be collected from the reception areas to access the rooms. 
  • Contact Inspire Wellbeing or UK Healthcare – Health Assured for confidential counselling. For more information click here
  • Logging and tracking certain events can help you identify patterns and triggers that affect your emotion and behaviour, try out the assessments on the Inspire Wellbeing Hub – to access, click here and use the company pin SERCSTAFF. 
  • NHS have a mental health quiz which can generate a personalised plan based on the information you provide. It can help you deal with anxiety or low mood, tips to reduce stress or advice on how to fall asleep faster and sleep better. To access,  click here
  • Directory of services within each Health and Social Care Trust which lists the names, numbers and web addresses (where applicable) of organisations that offer services to help improve mental health and emotional wellbeing. To access your area, click here

Coffee and Connect 

On Tuesday, the 10th of October 2023 why not take part by connecting with colleagues either on campus or via MS Teams and meet up for tea/coffee? Get the date in your diary! 

Mental Health Online Quiz 

Would you like to win a lunch voucher to use the College Kitchen? Then why not enter the online Mental Health Quiz to test your knowledge on mental health and the support services in the college? Breathwork and Relaxation Session 

Wellbeing NI will be delivering an online breathwork relaxing session on World Mental Health Day, encouraging you to find time for yourself and realisation to take ownership of your own self-care going forward. 

When: Tuesday the 10th of October 2023 at 9:30am to 10:10am via MS teams.
