Here at SERC we are keen to promote internal colleagues to allow staff the opportunity to get to know each other and put a face to the name, particularly due to the size and scope of SERC. With this in mind, “Meet your Colleagues” is a fun Q and A exercise to help raise awareness of people’s roles within SERC and allows you to get to know more about your fellow colleagues.
This week’s, “Meet Your Colleague” is David Moore. David recently joined the SERC team as one of the Business Development Managers in the Business Services Department.
What does your role at SERC involve?
My role within SERC is to support the delivery of the College Employer Engagement Strategy. This is achieved by developing, managing and maintaining relationships with businesses. The overall aim of this strategy is to help local businesses innovate and grow.
Tell us a bit about your background?
I come from a Financial Services background, where I have worked for the past 20 years.
What 3 words best describe you?
Organised, Conscientious and Enthusiastic.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Nothing out of the ordinary really. I enjoy spending time with my family. We enjoy getting outdoors as much as we can and appreciate the amazing scenery that we have right on our doorstep.
If you could swap jobs for a day who would it be and why?
I would love to swap places with Richard Branson as I think that would make for a pretty exciting day. I would love to be involved with Virgin Galactic (the spaceflight company within the Virgin Group) as this is such an exciting and innovative project.
List 3 items you would want with you if you were stranded on a deserted island?
That is a good question! I would want my iPod, mobile phone and a boat!
What is your favourite film and why?
I have so many favourites, so this is difficult to choose one. I know I am showing my age with this choice, but I will go for the original Star Wars film. I must have watched it at least 20 times and it was definitely the film that I remember most from my childhood.
Where do you most want to travel, but have never been?
I have always wanted to spend time travelling around America. The variety of things to see and do would be amazing – from the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls to New York, San Francisco and Las Vegas. This is definitely on my bucket list!
