Here at SERC we are keen to promote internal colleagues to allow staff the opportunity to get to know each other and put a face to the name, particularly due to the size and scope of SERC.

This week’s “Meet your Colleagues” features Mary Brady. Mary is a Customer Service Assistant in Customer and Community Services here at SERC.

What does your role at SERC involve?

My role at SERC involves the many duties that come under customer services; I work with admissions, provide info on enrolments and interact with customers either face to face or over telephone to help with their queries, refunds, compliments and complaints to name a few.

Tell us a bit about your background?

I have a background in the education industry; the roles I have worked in the past include HR, various departments, information and student services, quality audit and school support. Coming from these roles made SERC a natural fit for me.

What 3 words best describe you?

Bubbly, helpful, hard-working

What do you like to do outside of work?

I like spending time with my family, especially my kids. I also enjoy keeping fit and love to go to the gym when I can, before the lockdown I made good use of the Lisburn gym a few times a week.

If you could swap jobs for a day who would it be and why?

Always wanted to be a nurse (but I faint at the sight of blood!)

List 3 items you would want with you if you were stranded on a deserted island?

A knife, tin bowl and a friend (I like company lol)

What is your favourite film and why?

Shawshank Redemption, I just loved all the twists and turns in the story, it’s one of those films that keeps you gripped.

Where do you most want to travel, but have never been?

Australia, the all-round summer and Christmas BBQs sounds amazing!

What is your top tip for keeping healthy (either physically or mentally) during the lockdown?

Before I go to bed, I do meditation with the help of the Calm app (its free now due to the lockdown). It never fails to make me feel relaxed and ready for a good night’s sleep.
