Here at SERC we are keen to promote internal colleagues to allow staff the opportunity to get to know each other and put a face to the name, particularly due to the size and scope of SERC.

Here at SERC we are keen to promote internal colleagues to allow staff the opportunity to get to know each other and put a face to the name, particularly due to the size and scope of SERC. With this in mind, “Meet your Colleagues” is a fun Q and A exercise to help raise awareness of people’s roles within SERC and allows you to get to know more about your fellow colleagues.

This week’s “Meet your Colleagues” features Joanne White. Joanne is an Administrative Support Officer within Information Technology Services here at SERC. 

What does your role at SERC involve? 

Organising, purchasing and the setting up of SERC mobile phones for staff, setting up and minuting of meetings for Chief Technology Officer, sourcing and purchasing equipment for department and sourcing and purchasing software are just a few of the things I do. 

Tell us a bit about your background?  

Before SERC I was Catering Manager at the NI Hospice. I joined SERC in 2004 as a Catering Technician, then moved to the LRC in 2008 and my current role July 2019. I also teach Health and Safety PT for the Business Unit.  

What 3 words best describe you?  

Organised, Motivated and Mischievous. 

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love to travel, go to concerts and I line dance up to 5 nights a week.

If you could swap jobs for a day who would it be and why?

CEO of the National Health, to see what the difficulties are, what their priorities are, and give perspective from the regular guy in the street. Restructure the salaries. 

List 3 items you would want with you if you were stranded on a deserted island?

Sun cream, Novel, Stationary  

What is your favourite film and why?  

Pretty Woman – every girls dream to be rescued by a rich and handsome man.

Where do you most want to travel, but have never been? 

Santorini- It looks so beautiful.

What is your top tip for keeping healthy (either physically or mentally) during the lockdown?

Yoga- it’s great for both your physical and mental wellbeing
