Level 3 Media students at SERC’s Bangor Campus are hosting an audience with production company Alleycats Films which will give an insight to the industry and an opportunity for discussion. The event, open to the public, commences with light refreshments at 6.30pm in the Main Hall, SERC Bangor Campus, Castle Park Road, Bangor.
David Hutchinson, Media Lecturer at SERC said, ”As part of their course, the Level 3 Media students are required to plan and organise an event, working as a team to ensure success. Since many of the students are particularly interested in production, they were keen to hear about what it is really like to work in the industry from people who have made production their career. It is fantastic that they have secured the team from Alleycats.
He added, “This is a brilliant opportunity for the students and anyone thinking about a career in media to meet and hear first-hand from Alleycats’ Des Henderson and Brian Martin, who work for one of the top production companies in Northern Ireland. Alleycats have been involved in many top shows including The Roberta Flack Story, The Project Children and The World’s Oldest Family, producing them for broadcasters such as the BBC, Channel 4 and Showtime. They work internationally, so anyone attending will get a real insight into how they work on a global platform.
Finally, he said, “Many of our students are getting ready to start work in the production industry, some have progressed to our HND in Media Production and some are heading across the water for other courses, but it is important they talk to as many people possible from the industry and start to build up contacts. People in production know other people in the industry and you just never know when you will meet someone again, so it is a good networking opportunity.”
