In 2006, I embarked on the Access Diploma in Foundation Studies at SERC, one of my tutors, recommended this book to me. I’m glad she did as it’s my favourite book! Set in the fields of Flanders during World War One, it’s the story of a friendship between Jerry and Alec, that transcends class, religion, rank and status.
