SERC student Jack Freedman from Bangor has received a commendation from Robin Newton, MBE MLA, after completing work experience with the local Assembly Member.

Jack is currently studying Level 2 in IT at the College’s Bangor campus. He spent two weeks with Robin, creating plans to develop the Bloomfield area in Belfast.

Jack gained valuable experience researching, attending meetings and networking with community organisations such as Bloomfield Community Association and EastSide Partnership to learn more about Bloomfield’s rich history.

Speaking about his experience, Jack said, “I thoroughly enjoyed my time working alongside Robin. The work was interesting, hands on and to be able to see my hard work pay off in the upcoming months and years is an exciting prospect.”

Robin Newton added, “Jack was extremely enthusiastic, well presented and well equipped and he performed any task given to him with great consideration. He was a credit to himself, and to the College.”

On completion of his Level 2 course, Jack plans to progress on to Level 3 in IT at the College before perusing a course in politics.
