10 December 2020

10 December is International Human Rights Day. We should remind ourselves that Human Rights are at the heart of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), without human dignity it is not possible to drive sustainable development.

When observing the International Human Rights Day 10th December, we should remind ourselves that Human Rights are at the heart of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), without human dignity it is not possible to drive sustainable development. Human Rights are driven by progress on all SDGs, and the SDGs are driven by advancements on Human Rights. At SERC we are committed to the Sustainable Development Goals and identify as a Rights Respecting College

The SDGs were adopted by the UN Member States in 2015 in a "call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030".  There are 17 integrated SDG’s and action in one will impact on the outcomes of the others all working to address a balance in economic, social and environmental sustainability. SERC takes the pledge “Leave No One Behind” seriously and students and staff across the campuses have engaged in many “life-changing-zeros’, supporting and organising events to make a difference across all 17 SDG’s.  Today when observing International Human Rights Day, we would like to thank you for your continued interest and efforts.
