South Eastern Regional College’s Automation (Engineering) Intercampus Competition took place recently with a team from Bangor taking top spot.

Lecturer Jonathan McEwan said, “The Apprenticeship NI Level 2 and Level 3 Engineering students had to complete a range of pneumatic and electrical tasks which tested several assembly and fault-finding skills."

He added, “It was a close competition and I congratulate those who were placed, and all students for taking part and putting their skills to the test.”

First place went to Bangor team, (main picture above)  Andrew McMaster (Ballyhalbert) and Charlie Clarke (Bangor); second place went to Bangor team, (inset picture) Harrison Rollo (Newtownards) and Leo McBride (Belfast); third place went to Downpatrick team, Niall Robb (Downpatrick) and Chris Lyons (Downpatrick).

Those students who took first and second places will go on to compete in the WorldSkills NI heat for Automation in May, which will be hosted by Southern Regional College in Newry.
