Lea Nickell

Lea took her A-Levels at St Columbanus College, which included coming to SERC’s Bangor Campus for an A-Level in Hospitality. Inspired by the pathways on offer, she came to the college as a full-time student to study on the Ulster University Foundation Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Lea says, “At SERC I feel like I can find anything I need to help me learn. I have access to all the reading materials for my course in physical or digital format, and there are facilities available that help me with my course, like the Birches restaurant. Not only that but the tuition is great.”

“There are so many advantages to studying at SERC, such as: it's close to home, so you don’t need to travel long distances like attending university; and you don’t need to move away from where you’re comfortable.

“What I enjoy most about SERC is the individual help and support for each and every student. The Students’ Union team is there to represent the needs of the students and to help make SERC a better place. There are so many clubs and societies to get involved in and there are so many ways to let your voice be heard. I am currently the Students’ Union Trans officer and am also planning to be involved with the creation of a photography club.”

Lea concludes, “If you are thinking of studying at SERC, don’t just think, come in and ask! There are open days and information days to help you decide what you want to do and show you the best course of action, just for you!”
