SERC’s Horticulture team and student’s annual plant sale in Holywood has been adjusted this year, considering social distancing and staying safe, so everyone can pick up a plant – but you have got to be quick!

SERC’s Horticulture team and student’s annual plant sale in Holywood has been a fixture in the gardeners’ calendar for many years. This year, the team have adjusted the usual occasion, considering social distancing and staying safe, so everyone can pick up a plant – but you have got to be quick!

Claire Dunwoody, Horticulture Lecturer said, “Our Holywood plant sale is the culmination of work throughout the year by students. It is the opportunity to pick up something from the garden, grown by seed or cuttings, at a fraction of the cost you might pay in a garden centre. The monies generated all goes towards purchasing seeds for the courses, so we are very green indeed.

“This year, we are inviting anyone wishing to make a purchase to have a look at our list of available plants and shrubs, then email myself, cdunwoody@serc.ac.uk, what they would like to purchase. I will email back what we can fulfil with the cost and give a time for collection. Customers are requested to put the correct money in a sealed envelope and bring it along at their allotted time on collection day, Friday 26 June.

She added, “We have limited stock this year and orders will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis but we are confident there will be the usual support from the local community for this annual event.”

Orders must be received by 4pm on Thursday 25 June. You can see the list of available plants and shrubs below, as well as a video showing the plants available.
