Former SERC Student Jennifer Opens Home Salon

Jennifer Cleland, who studied Hairdressing Level 2 and 3 at SERC’s Downpatrick Campus, has opened Coastal Cuts, a Salon designed to be socially distanced. It has been a lifelong goal of Jennifers to reach this point, and her previous jobs in local salons had only solidified her interest in owning her own salon business.  

Jennifer comments, “My salon is in a room in my home, I provide a very personal experience as it is a one to one appointment. I can offer all aspects of hairdressing in my salon from a perm to a full head of foils. My salon is located outside Downpatrick in Ballylucas, clients can sit while getting their hair done and see a lovely view of the countryside.” 

She goes on to talk about her SERC course, “I enjoyed my experience at SERC. I found my course went quickly and help was at hand any time I needed it. The tutors and the career advisers where fabulous and always very helpful. My course helped me a great deal and I would recommend students who are considering hairdressing as a career to find a placement in a well-known and busy salon. I did my apprenticeship in Precious Hair Design in Downpatrick. I would not be where I am today without Sinead’s expert guidance and encouragement.”
