Find Out the Accessibility Information You Need with AccessAble

The College has a 3-year contract with AccessAble to provide accessible information on SERC’s estate to visitors, staff and students. This gives disabled people, carers, and those who just want to know a little more about accessibility, the information to see how SERC campuses are suitable for them.   

AccessAble is designed to give you the detailed information you need to work out if a place is going to be accessible to you. They have produced detailed and accurate access guides surveying over 100 buildings across the six NI colleges within the first year of their contract. In the subsequent years, they have continued to develop and maintain these access guides online.  

Existing and potential students, staff and visitors to SERC can review details on access routes and facilities for each SERC campus online. The guides include facts, figures and photographs to enable people to plan their visit and to anticipate whether their accessibility needs will be met. 

AccessAble have been working with SERC since 2012 to compile and maintain up-to-date accessibility information about SERC facilities and they provide the following benefits:  

• All venues appearing on AccessAble.co.uk are visited by a trained surveyor, ensuring consistent and accurate information is collected on each SERC facility. All the pieces of data collected by AccessAble’s surveyors and displayed on www.AccessAble.co.uk have been directly requested by disabled people through a 20-year ongoing consultation process. 
• The AccessAble website has been continuously designed with disabled people to ensure it meets users changing requirements  A new mobile app was launched in 2019 to help people check information on the go. 
• The access guide to SERC covers all aspects of the estate, including car parks and outside areas, as well as interiors of the buildings. 
• All access guides are reviewed every 12 months to ensure information is accurate and up to date.
