Expression of Interest- Production of Protective Screens

The College is seeking expressions of interest from staff who would be willing to assist in the production and installation of protective screens for the recommencement of classes in September 2020.

Key Tasks include;

1- Manufacture of protective screens

  • Removal of protective cover from the acrylic sheet
  • Deburring (removing sharp edges) from acrylic sheet – gentle sanding or using a deburring tool
  • Adding 2 strips of high visibility warning tape

2- Assembly of protective screens

  • Drilling and joining two pieces of timber using wood screws (training will be provided)
  • Using silicone as a mild adhesive (glue) to join the acrylic to the timber frame
  • Wiping down the frame
  • Removing any excess silicone
  • Quality assurance – visual inspection

3- Installation of protective screens

  • Cutting strips of Velcro and using adhesive tape secure the Velcro to the timber.
  • Using the adhesive tape to secure the frame to the designated area of the desk in the classroom/workshop.

4- The College is also seeking expressions of interest from technical staff trained in the safe operation of woodworking machinery for the cutting of acrylic sheet to required specifications.

The manufacture and assembly of these screens will take place in the Lisburn Campus from  Monday 20th July each weekday day until the  Monday 10th August.

Staff will be entitled to claim any excess mileage for travel to the Lisburn Campus and to carry over any annual leave which they had booked but agreed to cancel to assist with the manufacture and installation of screens.
