SERC is now enrolling for part-time courses commencing from January 2020. Over 30,000 students join a part-time course at SERC each year for a range of vocational, academic and leisure courses to pursue a career goal, for professional development or simply just for fun.

SERC offers an extensive range of courses at different levels and durations allowing you to fit study around, work, family and personal life. From Indian Head Massage to English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), from Introduction to Woodwork to Introduction to Programming, from Beginners Spanish to Essential Skills in Numeracy and Literacy, there is something for everyone.

The benefits of vocational education have helped many SERC students get promoted, retrain in a new career, and get back into education if they feel they have missed out. The College has also developed a range of career specific qualifications to help the local people reach their employment potential.

SERC Principal and Chief Executive Ken Webb said, “We offer a wide range of part-time opportunities for local people that could open the doors to transform their future. Vocational education and training play a vital role in preparing people for employment through hands-on learning thus meeting the needs of local employers for appropriately skilled and trained people. I would like to encourage prospective students to visit our part-time open evening to find out how we can help them realise their ambitions.”

For vocational courses there is a 25 percent reduction for those aged 60 or over at time of enrolment. There is also a 50 percent reduction for those receiving guaranteed pension credit, rate relief, working tax credit, income-based employment and support allowance, income support, universal credit and income-based jobseeker’s allowance, again this applies to vocational courses only. SERC also offer a range of payment options and students can pay in instalments to help spread the cost of courses over £300.
