It’s not every day you get to meet a real princess but Wednesday 12 February was just such a day for South Eastern Regional College student Nadine Calar.
Nadine is currently studying Level 3 Diploma for Children's Care, Learning and Development (Wales and Northern Ireland) part time at the College’s Ards Campus. Nadine is on placement in a local nursery school and yesterday she had the wonderful experience of meeting and talking with the Duchess of Cambridge who was on her first solo visit to Northern Ireland to Ark Open Farm in Newtownards where she met representative of the charity and other early years organisations.
Nadine said, “She asked my why I was studying early years and I told her that the first four years of a child’s life were so important and that I wanted to learn more and she replied that she too would like to learn more.”
She added, “It was a lovely experience and Kate was just so down to earth. She was so genuine and very good with the children.”
