Moria Doherty and Grainne Samms meet students on HE enrolment day.

We were delighted to welcome two visitors from the Department for the Economy - Moira Doherty, Deputy Secretary and Grainne Samm, Deputy Director of Further Education - to SERC Bangor Campus on Thursday 15 August, Higher Education (HE) enrolment day.

Tommy Martin, Interim Principal and Chief Executive Officer, Heather McKee, Deputy Principal Student Support Services and Gary Ritchie, Deputy Principal Curriculum, welcomed the visitors to the College. The guests were keen to meet both staff and students and learn more about the enrolment process. They also heard about progression routes for those students who have completed Level 3 qualifications or A-Levels, and who are continuing at SERC for HE courses.

Moira and Grainne had a tour of the facilities and met staff from Careers, Learning Support, Student Finance and Learning Resource Centre teams. Catherine Francis, Head of Knowledge Management and Elaine Snoddy, Senior Customer Services Officer – Admissions also met the visitors and talked through the enrolment process for applicants.

Before completing the tour, Moira and Grainne had the opportunity to meet current students including incoming Student President and Student Governor, Chris Bruton; former Student Governor, Vikki Pinkerton and HE Officer Jordan Snell, as well as students from Computing and Engineering courses: Alec Luke; Darragh Smyth; Ciaran Kelly; Lucy McCormack; Rhianna McFeeters; Alan Scott; Ewan Ferguson; Finn Deery; and Karl Lapidario.  Over a cup of coffee, they were able to hear about the student journey and experience whilst studying at SERC.
