Nathan McDonald (18) from Newry, progressed to SERC from St Joseph’s High School.   The young man credits the College for developing his love for all things culinary.

Nathan, who now lives in Castlewellan said, “I knew I wanted to come to SERC and this is where my interests in catering and hospitality have been developed.   I did the Level 2 in Culinary Skills before progressing to the Level 3 in Professional Cookery."

“I love cooking and I am learning something new every day. Right now, I am focussing on getting my qualifications and as much experience as I can for a career in hospitality.   I am thinking of coming back to do the Level 3 in Patisserie and Confectionery or Bakery.”

He concluded, “If someone asked my advice about coming to SERC and doing the courses that I did I would certainly recommend them.   The tutors are nice, and everyone on the course is friendly.   I have enjoyed college much more than school as it suits my style of learning.”
