Enterprising spirit is part of the ethos here at SERC and we love to hear about our students embracing the mantra everything is possible - which is exactly how SERC student Courtney Jordan ended up exhibiting at Bow Street Mall over the summer.

Courtney (18) from Lisburn, connected with enterprising artist Aoibhin Maguire who, spotting shops to let in Bow Street Mall, offered to fill them with her artwork in a pop-up gallery.

Courtney, who is commencing second year of the Level 3 Technical Diploma in Art and Design (Graphic Design and Illustration), offered to make a sign for the temporary exhibition entitled Emerging: A Room Full of Art and in turn was offered the opportunity to exhibit some of her photography and digital art along with other local artists. Courtney said, “I was delighted to get involved as I could immediately see the benefit to filling an empty space with art.  My initial remit was to help spread a little happiness with my own artwork, but the bonus was that I sold a couple of pieces through the gallery, and the exhibition and a few of the artists featured in an article in Sunday Life."

She added, “I have been very busy over the summer and am working on setting up my own Etsy site (watch this space) to sell my work.”

Emerging: A Room Full of Art is in Lisburn’s Bow Street Mall until 9pm, Wednesday 25 August. You can see more of Courtney’s art on Instagram @courtzbella
