Bethany Firth

Congratulations to SERC alumnus Bethany Firth who won silver at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Bethany earned her medal while competing in the S14 200m freestyle swimming event.

Bethany studied on the Elite Athlete Programme - Pearson BTEC Level 3 90-Credit Diploma in Sport at SERC. This medal adds to Bethany's impressive Paralympic medals collection of four gold and two silver. Bethany won her first gold at London 2012 in the 100m backstroke and in Rio 2016 she won gold in 100m backstroke, 200m freestyle, 200m medley and silver in the 100m breaststroke.

Bethany has more events to compete in and therefore more opportunities to add to her haul of Paralympic Medals. Bethany is set to compete in the 200m medley and the 100m backstroke.

Well done Bethany and best of luck for the rest of the games.
