Liverpool John Moores University BSc Business Management student Cohen Boyd came to SERC with a view to pursuing a business career.

Cohen completed his GCSEs and A-Levels at Bangor Grammar School, which is also where he first became interested in studying at SERC through talking to SERC careers advisors visiting the school.

Cohen says, “I really enjoy my course at SERC because it’s giving me a great set of skills and knowledge which I can benefit from in a future career. I have enjoyed most of my modules so far and I would say my favourite one has been finance.

“On my overall experience at the college has been great. SERC gives you the chance to meet lots of different people, compared to school which was very confined. My class is only in two days a week and living so close to the college has been very handy for me, as well as the cheaper fees in comparison to university. I’ve often used the higher education study room which is really nice to study in. The space has computers, macs and even a fridge!

“I would definitely recommend the LJMU course to others interested in coming to SERC for higher education. SERC is a much more personal experience compared to university – I am in a class with only 14 students - and the tutors will always be there to help you out. I think the course has the right balance of everything I need to know to progress.”
