This month we celebrated Pharmacy Technician Day our Pharmacy Technician students, based at our Bangor Campus. The students attend SERC on day release from full-time work in either a hospital or community setting.

Kerry Gilmore, NVQ Assessor from the School of Applied Science, Sport and Access to Education said, “Pharmacy Technician Day is a celebration of all the great achievements and hard work carried out by Pharmacy Technicians throughout the world.  The profession works alongside Pharmacists and the wider Pharmacy Team in a range of settings.

She added, “The role of the Pharmacy Technician can vary from counselling patients on their medications to taking drug histories,  dispensing medication, making final checks of medication, preparing and manufacturing medicinal products, sourcing products, clinical trials to providing training and education.   It is a varied an rewarding career in the community.”

SERC offers BTEC and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy qualifications demanded by the industry. Visit serc.ac.uk or contact kerrygilmore@serc.ac.uk to find out more from one of the team.
