St George’s Market, Belfast is the ‘plaice’ to be on Friday 4 October, where our Level 3 Professional Cookery students will be helping to launch Seafood Week 4 -11 October.

If you are in town, pop along to the market, purchase your fish of choice at the market then take it along to the SERC stand (11.00am – 2.00pm) where the students will cook it to your liking so you can enjoy it on the spot.

Seafood Week is an annual campaign that celebrates the wide variety of fish and shellfish available in the UK and aims to get people eating more fish, more often.

The campaign, co-ordinated by Seafish, is a flexible platform for organisations from all industry sectors to come together and work in collaboration to promote seafood as a good choice for consumers.

Paul Mercer, Deputy Head of School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism at SERC said, “We are delighted to be taking part in Seafood Week in this novel way.   The bustle of the market is the perfect setting, not only for our students to show how quick and versatile a fish dish can be, but for them to meet customers and share their knowledge and tips for enjoying all kinds of seafood.”
