Students from South Eastern Regional College’s (SERC) NVQ Level 3 Beauty Therapy took the opportunity to combine their education training with some ever-welcomed charitable fundraising.

The students raised funds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma NI and recently presented a cheque of £546 to Claire Gilmore from the charity.

Lynn Hamill-Fitzpatrick, Lecturer, SERC said “As part of their course the students had to complete a unit on promotion.   They decided to make the most of it by promoting their skills combined with a fundraiser. They ran a successful pampering morning, selling tickets for treatments such as back massages, facials, Indian head massages, manicures, gel polish and pedicures.   This was followed by complimentary coffee, Subway treats, scones, biscuits and buns, and each client received a goody bag full of beauty samples and treats.”

She added, “The students also had ballot, with many prizes, including first class train tickets to Dublin, a sound bar, Hastings Spa days, food hampers, beauty hampers and photography sessions.   We would like to thank everyone who donated prizes, bought tickets and joined us for the pamper day.   We are delighted to have been able to combine our studies with fundraising in order to donate to a local charity close to our hearts.”

South Eastern Regional College are hosting full-time open days on Wednesday 4 March 2pm – 7pm and Saturday 7 March 10am – 12pm at Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newtownards Campuses.  Enrol now at www.serc.ac.uk and find out how you could be #BetterOffAtSERC
