ncfe cache level 2 diploma in health and social care

This September, South Eastern Regional College (SERC) will be welcoming a new group of students onto a 20-week, fully-funded course at the college’s Downpatrick campus, designed to prepare students for roles in nursing homes and residential care.

On completion of the course, offered under the Department for the Economy’s SKILL UP programme, students will have gained an NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) (Northern Ireland).  This is the only accredited course in Northern Ireland that will be recognised and accepted to allow applicants to work in any registered health and social care setting.

Course lecturer Fiona Brennan says “This is an excellent opportunity to gain a qualification and participate in practicals during the course’s on-site delivery. We have local work placements lined up to help put theory into practice and to help the students gain further knowledge and experience. We will be offering support and guidance with IT, to ensure that everyone is achieving. This course will also be great to help gain confidence, to meet new friends and to enjoy the learning experience.

“A job in the health and social care sector can be a very rewarding one. Once qualified and working, you begin to get to know your clients and interact with them throughout the day and start to form friendships and delightful relationships. Shifts are available around the clock, there is flexibility in the working hours so you can adapt them around your family and lifestyle needs.

“The course also opens up the pathway to further and higher education (up to degree level) and work-based skills training (including apprenticeships) in health and care and will support your career pathway in the health and care sector.”
