Along with a number of different events and activities the SU will be running an All Together Week Online Drop In this Wednesday 21 April, 3pm.
Sharon McCartney, SU Disability Officer for the Lisburn campus is hosting the drop in, she spoke about All Together Week. “It was an idea I had as a way to raise awareness and acceptance for hidden disabilities. I became aware that some staff and students may not have much of an awareness of the different disabilities that are not visible. The drop-in is a space where people can talk to each other and relax. It has been a difficult year so it will be something that people can look forward to."
Sharon added “Having a safe space where students can be supported is very important. It is important to support the mental wellbeing of students especially in these challenging times. Students need to feel that they are not alone and there are people they can talk to. I would like this event to happen every year as a way to keep awareness and acceptance of people with different abilities and additional needs.”
To take part in the drop in simply join the Students’ Union Online Hub where the drop in will be hosted.
