Students and lecturers at the graduation event

Final year Advanced Foundation Learning students from SERC’s Newtownards campus recently celebrated their achievements and the end of their time on their course with a Graduation ceremony.

Claire Louise Kanhye-Crawford - Course Co-Ordinator spoke about the Graduation, “As a teacher it is always one of the hardest parts of the job to see your students move on to begin a new chapter. After a few unsettled years, due to Covid, we were so proud to see how our students coped and were able to transition back into college life with such ease and tenacity. We decided this year would be the year we would start the tradition of a Graduation, to give our final years a celebratory send off.

“The occasion included some lovely words that were written by our second years who shared memories of their time with the final years as well as messages of congratulations and well wishes.”

Claire Louise concluded by saying “The Graduates along with their families really enjoyed the event and after hearing some beautiful words from one of our final years James Rowley, everyone was left with a real sense of pride and confidence that they will flourish in whatever their next chapter holds.”

Congratulations to Kenzie Twamley, Chloe-Anne Carson, Robert Hynes and James Rowley who graduated. We wish you all the very best for the future.
