Naomi Braniff from Downpatrick, says her pathway through SERC has guided her future career ambitions as she embarks on a new journey in Medical Science at Bangor University.
Having completed her GCSEs in 2018, Naomi (21) progressed to A Levels, but soon realised she no longer enjoyed the school experience. As another option, she started a course in Pharmaceutical Science at Belfast Met having worked in a Pharmacy role previously and enjoyed the work.
On discovering this course was not the right fit for her, along with the long commute to Belfast and limited one on one time to speak with tutors, Naomi applied at SERC in 2020 in a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science at the Downpatrick campus.
Speaking on the course, Naomi said: “The remarkable tutors at SERC Downpatrick went above and beyond to support me during my time at the college and always had my best interests at heart. The tutors were fantastic, and I owe a lot to them, as I wouldn’t have achieved my grades if it wasn’t for them. Truthfully, they have helped to shape me into the person I am today, and provided me with a wide range of skills and qualities which I will use throughout university and future career.”
Concluding, she said: “I would highly recommend SERC as a place to study or if you are considering a different educational route. There are so many courses on offer and something for everyone to benefit from. What sets SERC apart is that unlike any other educational setting I have experienced, it’s more than just grades, it’s about having the best possible chance of achieving your potential for the future and discovering your own goals in life. The high-class standard of education I received in SERC Downpatrick has enabled me to secure a place at Bangor University, Wales in Medical Science in September 2022. I am excited to see what the future holds for me.”
