Savvy students at SERC’s Downpatrick Campus have tapped into the vintage vibe to offer the chance to win a unique afternoon tea package – ready to take away and enjoy at home.

Students from the Skills for Life and Work programme came up with the novel idea in a bid to raise funds to support activities for personal and social skills development.

Tutor Joanne Murray said, “Throughout the year the students organise several fundraisers to support trips and activities.  Our big enterprise this year has been opening Truffle, our vintage shop here in Downpatrick Campus.   All the merchandise has been donated by staff, students, family and friends and we have been delighted with the range of stock for sale.  This provided the inspiration for our Vintage Valentine’s Afternoon Tea raffle.

Joanne added, “The students have put together an afternoon tea for two which includes cups, saucers, side plates, cake stand, tablecloth and napkins with a selection of freshly prepared treats – sandwiches, scones, cakes and bakes - made under the tutelage of Culinary Arts Lecturer, Sinead Scott. It also includes two glasses and a bottle of Prosecco (or alcohol-free alternative for winners under 18) and will make a wonderful surprise to share with someone special.”

Raffle tickets (£2 a strip) can be purchased from Truffle, located in Downpatrick Campus Foyer during opening hours Wednesday and Friday 10.00am – 3.00pm, and at the College’s annual Valentine’s Market on Wednesday 5 February 10.00am – 1.30pm.

The winner must be able to collect (or make arrangements for the collection) of the prize between 12 noon and 2.00pm on Friday 7 February.

Good Luck everyone!
