Beauty students at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) are offering wellbeing treatments to student and staff with caring responsibilities in a win-win initiative that is set to benefit local foodbanks.

In collaboration with the College’s HR team Mind Yourself programme, the students gain valuable project-based learning (PBL) including experience of delivering treatments, promotion, and scheduling appointments.

Maureen McKay, HR Business Partner said, “We are pleased to be working in collaboration with the beauty departments in Bangor, Downpatrick and Lisburn Campuses for the Feel-Good PBL beauty event, which will offer treatments such as mini facials with neck and shoulder massages and hand and arm massages to student and staff carers.  Following treatments, participants availed of refreshments in the Relaxation Room.”

The first session took place on Thursday 1 February in Downpatrick Campus hosted by Level 2 Beauty Therapy students (above).   Participants were asked to make a £3 payment or donate a dry food item for the local foodbank on the day.
