Level 3 Technical Diploma in Art and Design (Graphic Design and Illustration)
This new two-year full time course is equivalent to 2 full A levels (120 Credits). In year one (Level 3 Introductory diploma) you will complete 6 units equivalent to 2 AS levels and in year two will complete a further 6 units to obtain the full Level 3 Technical Diploma.
This two-year course is the equivalent to two A levels and leads on from GCSE and Level 2 courses.
Students who successfully complete this course can apply directly to University entry or apply for our one-year Foundation Diploma in Art & Design.
The programme typically runs for a minimum of 15 hours a week.
Year One establishes a broad art and design base from which the specialism of Graphic Design is developed.
Year Two focuses on further developing skills within a chosen skills pathway through internal assignments and live client commissions.
Pathways may include: Illustration, Communication design and Promotional Design.

- Using Digital Technology in Graphic Design

- How Artists and Designers use 2D materials, processes and Techniques.
- Motion Graphics
- Digital Fine Art
- Illustration
You will also exhibit your work as part of the course alongside other courses within the creative department. You will work towards a Personal Development qualification and you will be involved in a range of activities designed to improve your employability.
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above to included Art, English and / or Mathematics or their Level 2 equivalents. Or a Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design with a Merit grade or higher.
You must also have a portfolio of work displaying an interest and ability in Art and Design. Details of this will be confirmed in your email invitation at a later date.
You will also be asked to complete a short Summer Evaluation Project.
You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C or above.
