Course Overview

This Level 3 Motor Sport Engineering course is equivalent to 3 A Levels and runs for 2 years. It is made up of two qualifications.

There is an attendance commitment requirement of 15 hours per week. 

IMI Level 3 Diploma in Motorsport Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

Modules may include:

  • Diagnosing and Rectifying Motorsport Chassis System and Electrical/Electronic Equipment Faults
  • Setting up & Inspecting a Motorsport Vehicle during Competition
  • Diagnosing and Rectifying Motorsport Engines and Transmissions

and an EAL Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Technologies

Modules may include:

  • Engineering and Environmental Health & Safety
  • Fabrication and Welding Principles
  • General engineering maintenance techniques
  • Metal inert gas, metal active gas (MIG/MAG) Welding
  • Producing sheet metal fabrications
  • Maths
  • Computer Aided Design

4 GCSEs at Grade C or above in Maths, English and a science related subject and Technology.

You want to be a Motorsport Engineer and work with rally cars, motorbikes and other motorsport vehicles.

About motorsport events regulation, materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices used in Motorsport, Mechanical Engineering attend motorsport events and Engineering mathematics.

Our Industry Standard motor vehicle workshop and the wide range of cutting edge technical equipment you will get to use.

Successful completion of this course will allow you to apply to Higher Education courses such as a Degree in Motorsport Vehicle Preparation or Engineering. Alternatively, successful completion of this course can lead into a career in the Engineering and Motor Vehicle Industry.
