Level 3 Apprenticeship NI in Electrical Installation
An electrician course provides the foundational knowledge and hands-on training needed to work with electrical systems. You will be working with your employer in addition to attending the college. You will achieve all the Level 3 outcomes required to match the occupational framework.

Students will benefit from the industry standard workshops in college, designed to give you practical experience, and working in the electrical industry.
This apprenticeship offers:
- full teaching in the principles of electrical science, electrical installation technology, installation of wiring systems, electrical fault finding techniques, connection of conductors, cables and cords in electrical and Health and Safety in the workplace.

- job stability - the demand for skilled electricians is consistently high. As technology evolves and construction projects increase, there’s always a need for trained professionals to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems
- good pay - electricians can earn a solid income, and depending on experience and specialization, the pay can be even higher. Additionally, electricians in specialized fields, such as industrial or renewable energy, often see higher wages
- diverse work environments - electricians can work in various settings, from construction sites to factories, homes, or even remote locations. The diversity can keep things interesting and offer flexibility in terms of work settings.
This is a 4 year apprenticeship.
Students will be assessed through a range of multiple-choice exams, portfolio building, and practical work. Students will benefit from learning in college and with an employer in the field.
Students will attend college for an average of 7 hours per week, with the remainder of time being spent with an employer.
You will need:
- 5 GCSEs including at least Grade C in English and Maths OR
- Essential Skills Literacy and Numeracy Level 2
- Be aged 16 or over
- Have secured employment with an appropriate electrical installation contractor in order to do this course
- Health and Safety Legislations, Practices and Procedures
- Environmental Legislation, Working Practices and the principles of environmental technology
- Practices and Procedures for overseeing and organising the work environment
- Preparation and installation of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment in buildings structures and the environment
- Electrical inspection, testing and commissioning
- Fault diagnosis and rectification
- Electrical principles associated with the design, building, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems
