Course Overview

Learning Microsoft Excel is one of the most valuable and indispensable skills you can have for work and personal life. Excel can streamline many aspects of everyday tasks. This Includes creating budgets, expense tracking, project planning and goal setting.

In this accredited course we will expand on skills covered in Level 2 and explore the more advanced features of Excel. This will show you the skills you need for creating and collaborating on a shared workbook including how to protect a workbook and its structures. This course will cover the more advanced formulas and functions that can be applied to give you full control over the data that you are working with -  including VLOOKUP, Pivot tables, Forecasting tools and Data validation to name a few.

During the course you will be assessed via an assignment that will allow you to put your new skills into practice and gain your qualification. There will be class time provided for the completion of this, however independent study time may be required to ensure you meet the set deadlines.

How will I be assessed?

During your course you will complete:

  • A Portfolio of Evidence.
  • A 10–15-minute 1-1 Recorded Evidence Session with your tutor.

You need to record or keep track of large amounts of data, or you use Excel in your job role daily. Having advanced skills in Excel can help simplify everyday tasks and assist you with identifying trends in your data more effectively through advanced formulas and functions and understanding how the advanced tools work within Excel and how you can apply these.

If you are a manager or a team leader and want to create a shared workbook for your employees to collaborate on, work with large data and want to learn more techniques to manage this, or if you would just like to become more efficient in your everyday use of Excel, this course is perfect for you.

On completion of this unit, a candidate should be able to select and use a wide range of advanced spreadsheet software tools and techniques to produce, present and check complex and non- routine spreadsheets.

  • Range of data entry, manipulation, and outputting techniques. For example, Data Entry Forms, importing data and linking and embedding objects;
  • Tools, formulas, and functions needed to analyse and interpret the required information (for example, data validation, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, What-If Scenarios);
  • User will take full responsibility for setting up and developing the functionality of the spreadsheet. Typical examples may include - developing summary reports from a large data set, protecting workbooks and their structures, controlling the input of data using advanced features and functions.

Learning advanced Spreadsheet Software tools and techniques will improve your efficiency and everyday working when using Spreadsheets and collaborating with others.
