The course will require a commitment of 17 hours per week on campus and one day per week on work placement.  The course purpose is to inspire and enthuse learners to consider a career in the Travel and Tourism sector. It is the aim of the qualification to give learners the opportunity to gain a broad knowledge and understanding of, and develop skills in, the travel and tourism sector. It also hopes to support progression to a more specialised level 3 vocational or academic tourism course or an apprenticeship. Fundamentally, it hopes to give learners the potential opportunity, in due course, to enter employment within a wide range of junior job roles across the travel and tourism sector, for example posts in travel agencies, visitor attractions and the tourist information centre.
