Level 2 Traineeship in Creative Media Production & Technology
Level 2 Traineeships are ideal for learners who wish to develop and practice the skills required for employment within the media industry
The Traineeship programme will allow participants to achieve a full Level 2 qualification and will comprise the following key elements:
A main vocational based qualification
Vocational skills development Transversal and digital skills
Work placement
Literacy and numeracy qualifications at Level 2 (may include GCSE qualifications in English and Mathematics)
Course modules may include:
- Introduction to Creative Media Methods and Skills.
- Introduction to Production Techniques in Creative Media
- Understanding an Audience in Creative Media production.
- Contextual Research for Creative Media production
- Exploring Audio Production and Technology
- Exploring Visual Production and Technology
- Exploring Interactive Media Production and Technology
- Personal Project and Presentation in Creative Media Production.
There will be an interview and skills test for this course
You wish to work with media products, production processes and technologies.
The practical and creative skills that you will learn can immediately transfer into the workplace.
Unit choices cover a diverse range of Media production including print, web, radio, television, film, scriptwriting, lighting, advertising and photography.
How to plan and produce packages such as radio documentary’s and short films, Media photography, how the media industry works and how to engage an audience.
Developing your wider skills: As well as providing you with the technical skills and knowledge in your chosen area, the Traineeship will help you to develop a range of transversal skills that are important for employment including: Problem solving, Teamwork, Communication, Time management, Entrepreneurship
The hands-on approach to this course and getting experience in using equipment such as zoom microphones, digital SLR cameras, Radio studios etc.
Developing your creativity by making short films.
Project Based Learning will also be a key feature of Traineeships. This is a dynamic approach to learning in which you will explore real-world problems and challenges that have been developed with employers.
to be over 16 years of age and working towards:
- minimum GCSE grade E in English
- minimum GCSE grade D in Mathematics
- and two other GCSEs grade F or above or equivalent qualification level

If you receive a Conditional Offer after your interview you will be required to complete a Enrolment Project.
There will be two weeks Induction when the course commences in September.
