Level 2 Traineeship in Children's Care, Learning and Development
This qualification is designed to help learners build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children. It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas working in a children’s setting. This qualification confirms competence in these areas and serves as the required qualification for all new practitioners for registration and regulatory requirements in Northern Ireland.

- Theme 1 (Y/617/6517) Communication and Partnership Working
- Theme 2 (D/617/6518) Safeguarding Children
- Theme 3 (D/617/6521) Keeping Children Safe, Healthy and Well
- Theme 4 (K/617/6523) Support Children's Personal Care and Nutrition
- Theme 5 (F/617/6527) Supporting Children's Development
- Theme 6 (J/617/6528) Support Children's Play, Learning and Development
- Theme 7 (L/617/6529) Contribute to the Support of Children With Disabilities and/or Special Needs
- Theme 8 (F/617/6530)
Learners could progress to the following job roles:
- pre-school assistants
- nursery assistants
- creche assistants
- out of school childcare worker.
4 GCSEs at Grade D --G or above (Diploma), students to hold a D grade or above in both Maths and English for the diploma.
4 GCSE’s including either maths or English at D grade to be offered cert.
Applicants that have not obtained the above grades may be eligible to enrol as an Introductory Trainee. Please contact us for further information.
